Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament Preparation Basics

Posted on January 9, 2021 by Suzanne K. Fox

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) tournaments are perfect to test your BJJ skills and techniques without a consistent timeline. You can practice in the Martial Arts Academy 5 days a week and master some serious skills, but you would have little to do in a live situation if you try these skills out against enemies you’re not used to (not your teammates). Even though Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournaments aren’t violent activities such as street fighting, or maybe self-defense, they can help you regulate your adrenaline and anxiety during a “real” battle. You don’t just need to focus on your daily sessions but you also need to start a competition regiment to prepare for a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament. This includes good nutrition, ‘tournament training,’ basic training, preparation and strength. These are Brazilian Jiu Jitsu’s building blocks.

Proper nutrition is in itself a whole subject. There are plenty of books and magazines that can help you get a good balanced diet, just bear in mind that your diet plan is almost what you eat, not a fast fix for a permanent lifestyle. Using common sense and obey the advice of a professional nutritionist. Let your nutritionist know what your aim is and continue to do so until you reach your goal and then continue or maybe build a new goal. You all eat badly, and you will not compete badly in the case you adopt a successful diet plan, it is possible that when you compete, you will feel fantastic. Sufficient hydration, particularly for athletes, is important.

The fluid volume that you must take varies by person, but a good rule generally is to be calculated before and after your training, to assess the fluid loss and then just to ensure that you fill this quantity all day long. There are about 24 ounces of fluids in one pound. Take care to restrict your consumption to one cup of water each 20 minutes without drinking much too quickly.

For your mind, strength and conditioning are more important than anything else. Running, riding, cross-fitting or maybe Gym Jones will help make you feel good and look, but I do not think they will help you to grapple / catch a lot, at least not for the art, which uses technology over muscle. Only innumerable continuous time on the mate will help your earth’s strength and cardiovascular strength, but what you do with running, biking and cross fitness and Gym Jones is mental. If you can get your thoughts into a hard cardio session, you can get through standard 3 5 matches during a competition easily. Never depend on Jiu Jitsu strength because if you lose the real application website.

Basic class training is probably most critical of 4 because you’re most likely to be having a rough time competing against anyone if you don’t know the fundamental Jiu Jitsu. Be a sponge and participate regularly in the class. Ask questions and have some private lessons if some moves or positions are difficult to manage. Jiu Jitsu is like a complex 10.000 piece puzzle, it’s not easy to bring all the pieces together, but it can be done patiently. The basics for preparing a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament would be your course instructions. Check for a school that has a record of creating successful Jiu Jitsu competitors and learn from everyone. In case you want to extend your skills outside the classroom, create a library of educational books and DVDs or maybe better still participate in some Jiu Jitsu seminars in Brazil.

Training in tournaments is how you bring together the above pieces. Most competitive athletes would agree that competition training’s will be toughest, for the one or even two day grappling tournament is nothing in comparison if you train for 4 8 weeks before a tournament. Think of it as a pre-exam and if the tournament preparation is complete, you must remain in shape to perform very well in the tournament. Training at tournaments should combine your Jiu Jitsu skills and strength with your state of mind in your competition and you will suffer injury and chronic fatigue if you don’t maintain a balanced diet which includes hydration properly. Training at the tournaments is exactly where you’ll mix in boxes, take up work (judo/wrestling) and play mock tournaments or maybly play with your teammates. This time is better planned right after the class session.

Preparing for a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament can also be a challenge to a major tournament, but you can enjoy it, soak your know-how and you will also be lifted up by your side and on the podium. Proper hydration and healthy eating, cardio practice, easy lessons and tournament preparation are the pieces of puzzle which will prepare you to succeed in the new Jiu Jitsu contest. Good fortune! Good fortune!
